Some History:<\/p>\n

This concept was started by the late Anne Shaw in 1994. She was the first person to be listed as a friend of Christ Church. Currently, there are 71 members. It is a meaningful way to keep in contact with Christ Church, Russell \u2013 the oldest working church in New Zealand.<\/p>\n

The mother Anglican Church of New Zealand in its Mission Statement says:<\/p>\n

\u2018To keep the faith through acts one to another and within the community at large\u2019<\/p>\n

i.e. To develop friends of Christ Church by encouraging people to attend weekly services and special events.<\/p>\n

A regular bi-annual newsletter keeps the “Friends” up to date with changes and events that take place during the church year.<\/p>\n
