Christ Church, Russell

Mona was a respected sacramental minister at Christ Church Russell, she also taught at a bilingual school near Russell at Waikare. A large group of family and friends attended the unveiling of her headstone and its blessing. Her daughter Nicole and grand daughter Terina removed a fine cloak from the stone, and grandsons Hakopa and Wiremu read the inscription. It was a beautiful sunny day at the Long beach cemetery/urupa. The service was followed by a meal/hakari at the Russell Bowling Club.

Four well behaved dogs and three much loved cats were blessed by Rvnd Heather Lindauer on Care of Creation Sunday.

Ten teams from the church and wider Russell community enjoyed a delicious shared lunch and ten rounds of ten quiz questions at noon on the 24 August. Adele Jones and her A Team won the inaugural trophy by half a point.

Tha annual St. Johns Op Shop fashion Parade held on 19th July was a wonderful occasion. Arranged and compared by Evelyn Heke Dane the models showed great flair as they presented clothing from practical daywear to glamorous evening wear. The proceeds this year went to Christ Church. Thank you to the community for the support.
